One Metal Merchants makes selling your scrap metal straightforward. Drive into our Caringbah yard, get your materials weighed on our on-site electronic scales, and receive same-day payment for eligible non-ferrous metals — no appointment needed.
This guide walks you through the full drop-off process so you know exactly what to expect before you arrive at 9 Cawarra Road.
Selling scrap metal at our Caringbah yard is simple. Here's what happens from the moment you arrive.
Enter via Cawarra Road and follow the driveway into our yard. There's ample space for cars, utes, trailers and small trucks. Park in the designated customer area near the weighbridge and a team member will come to assist you. No appointment is needed — just turn up during business hours.
Our team will help you unload and sort your materials by metal type and grade. Separating your metals beforehand — keeping copper separate from brass, aluminium from stainless steel — helps speed things up and may improve your pricing. We grade each metal based on its type, purity and condition, following industry-standard classifications.
Each sorted batch is weighed on our on-site electronic scales. You're welcome to watch the weighing — we believe in complete transparency. The weight and grade of each metal type is recorded on your ticket, which forms the basis of your payment calculation. Our scales are regularly maintained to ensure consistent accuracy.
Your pricing is calculated using market-linked rates based on current commodity prices. We'll give you a clear breakdown before processing payment. Same-day payment is available for eligible non-ferrous metals via direct deposit or EFT — you'll need to provide valid photo ID and your bank details. Steel and iron are accepted for free recycling.
Driver's licence, passport or proof of age card. Required for all transactions — we record ID details as required by law.
BSB and account number for direct deposit payments. Payment is processed electronically — we do not pay cash.
Pre-sorting by metal type saves time and helps you get the best price. Keep copper, brass, aluminium and stainless steel in separate containers or piles.
Our yard is an active industrial site. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended for your safety.
Clean, high-grade metals attract the best rates. Mixed or contaminated loads may be downgraded or priced lower.
Non-ferrous metal pricing follows daily commodity markets. Rates can change from day to day. Call 02 9531 1900 for today's pricing before you come in.
Pricing is per kilogram. Larger, well-sorted loads generally yield better returns. We accept loads of all sizes — from a few kilos to commercial volumes.
Same-day payment via EFT is available for eligible non-ferrous metals. Ferrous metals (steel, iron) are accepted for free recycling only. Some materials may require additional processing before payment can be determined.
People bring all sorts of metal to our Caringbah yard. Here are the most common items we see — and how to prepare them.
Strip any insulation from thick copper wire for the best price. Plumbing pipe, offcuts and old hot water system components are commonly accepted. Clean, bare bright copper commands top rates.
Old taps, valves, plumbing fittings and decorative brass items. Remove any plastic washers, rubber seals or non-metal attachments beforehand — clean brass is worth more.
Drink cans, window frames, gutters, siding, boat parts, and car wheels. Sheet aluminium from renovation projects and old signage is also accepted. Keep it free of steel screws and rivets.
Kitchen sinks, benchtops, shelving, exhaust components, boat fittings and industrial offcuts. Prices vary by grade — 304 and 316 grades are the most common and valuable.
Car, truck, boat and motorcycle batteries. We also accept sealed lead-acid batteries from UPS units and solar systems. Please keep batteries upright during transport to avoid acid spills.
Insulated copper cable of all grades, extension cords, appliance wiring and electric motors from pumps, fans and power tools. Stripped cable is worth significantly more than insulated.
